New Crosswalk Coming to Woodmont Triangle

Traffic engineer: Pedestrian safety is the aim of the upgrades.

A construction crew is completing safety upgrades at a crosswalk at Woodmont and Fairmont avenues in downtown Bethesda.

The new crosswalk markings are scheduled to be painted Tuesday, aligning the crosswalk with a newly installed pedestrian island aimed at slowing traffic and making crossing safer for pedestrians, a Montgomery County Department of Transportation traffic engineer said.

The improvements were requested by tenants and management at the nearby Fairmont Plaza apartments in concert with the Bethesda Urban Partnership.
