The chain of events began after a credit card was stolen from a church parking lot on Aug. 11. The victim, a 60-year-old woman, was attending services at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Bethesda, police said.

Police said that within a matter of hours, more than $4,000 worth of purchases was charged to the card, including a 3-month-old Yorkshire Terrier from Just Puppies at Twinbrook Shopping Center.

The card was also used to buy clothes from Nordstrom at Westfield Montgomery. Video footage made public last month shows a male holding the puppy during the transaction.

Police said Pulliam was arrested in College Park on Nov. 13. Camardi was charged via a district court summons.

Police did not release a photo for Camardi.
