  • Description: The World of Montgomery Festival celebrates the diverse cultural heritages that play an active role in the lives of Montgomery County residents and communities. The festival showcases this rich diversity through food, music, dance, traditional arts and hands-on projects for children and families.

Bolshoi Ballet, Live from Moscow: Spartacus 

  • Where: AFI Silver Theatre, 8633 Colesville Rd., Silver Spring.
  • When: Sunday Oct. 20, 11 a.m. (Remember, it's being streamed, live, from many time zones away!)
  • Price: $15.
  • Description: Watch a live Bolshoi performance in the movie theater. 

Lost and Found Horse Rescue Fall Festival and Open House

  • Where: 15800 Darnestown Rd., Germantown.
  • When: Sunday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m.
  • Price: Free-of-charge.
  • Description: During the open house, Lost and Found Horse Rescue staff members and volunteers will conduct escorted tours of the farm and present interactive demonstrations including a unique "Skeleton in Motion" presentation. The Equestrian Thrift Store will be open, offering used saddles, tack and books for sale, plus there will be a Unicorn Photo Booth and the fourth annual Dirty Donkey Contest. Refreshments will be served.  

Viva Verdi

  • Where: Washington National Cathedral, 3101 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Washington, DC.
  • When: Sunday, Oct. 20, at 4 p.m.
  • Price: Tickets start at $31. 
  • Description: In collaboration with the Embassy of Italy's "Year of Italian Culture in the United States," the Cathedral Choral Society presents Giuseppe Verdi's towering Requiem, the society's signature work since its inaugural concert in 1942. To mark the 200th anniversary of Verdi's birth, the concert opens with his stirring Hymn of the Nations, which includes the national anthems of England, France and Italy.
